Volunteers are truly the backbone of our organization and are critical to the daily operation of the program.

Our deepest hope is that your work here at The Living Room is rewarding and fulfilling, and that you feel supported and valued in your role as a volunteer.

Typically, TLR volunteers commit to a weekly shift of 3 hours or more for at least 6 months. Students seeking internships or volunteer hour requirement are welcome!

Drop-in Day Programs (Women Only)

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday | 8-11:30am, 11:30am-3pm

Wednesday | 8-11:30am, 9:30am-1:00pm

Women’s Program | Volunteers are needed to greet participants as they arrive and to assist them with services including laundry, showers and desk services (personal care items). Additionally, volunteers will interact with participants and assist program staff in various situations and circumstances.

Mother and Child Program | Volunteers are needed to work with the program staff to provide a safe, comforting, and enriching environment for mothers and their children.

Resource Room | Volunteers are needed to assist and support participants with resumes, housing and job searches as well as general computer, fax and telephone operations.

Servers | Volunteers are needed to serve a hot breakfast and lunch and to assist in providing hot and cold beverages throughout the day. Servers prep the service area, serve the meals and clean up serving area. A Food Safety Certificate is required. Monday-Friday: Breakfast 8- 10:30am | Lunch 11am-1:15pm

Cooks | Volunteers are needed to prepare a delicious and nutritious hot breakfast and lunch, which are very much appreciated by the women and children. A Food Safety Certificate is required. Monday-Friday | 7:30am - 12pm

In-kind Donation Management | Volunteers assist in accepting, sorting and storing in-kind donations in the “Points” building. Tuesday & Thursday | 9:00am – 12:00pm and 12:00pm – 3:00pm.

Welcome Home Management | Volunteers coordinate with TLR staff to gather and deliver needed items for participants moving into stable housing. Flexible hours M-F.

Office Assistance | Volunteers assist staff with office work, including but not limited to copying, data entry, telephones and more. Flexible hours M-F.

Special Event Assistance | Volunteers assist staff in organizing and presenting programs when we have special fundraising events. Flexible hours M-F.

Community Advocates (Women & Men)

(Monday-Friday, Flexible hours)

Advocates bring their area of professional or personal expertise to the women and families of The Living Room. Advocates work directly with participants, helping them to navigate the best path towards accomplishing their goals in a specific area, i.e. housing, health care, child development, recovery, resume building, etc. Advocates and staff collaborate regularly to maintain consistency and efficiency when assisting participants with these goals.

This week we opened up our curbside service to provide essential hygiene items, a hot meal and pet food to the Sonoma County community. The Living Room was able to provide service to over 300 people! Our hygiene packs are going quickly and we are expecting the need for these items to increase in the coming weeks.

We are currently look for donations for the following items:
