The Living Room, a Santa Rosa nonprofit that supports women and children in need, raised $10,713.50 over three days during its first Thrift and Thrive pop-up sale, held Jan. 23-25 at New Vintage Church in Santa Rosa.
The event, which offered donated clothing, shoes, furniture, kitchenware and other household items, drew 446 transactions, said Krista Sherer, the organization’s director of development and communications.
Founded in 1993, The Living Room has been led by Alethea Larson, its executive director, since 2023. Proceeds from the fundraising event will support the nonprofit’s programs, including transitional housing in 12 residences for more than 50 women and children, food services reaching as many as 60,000 people annually and providing basic needs and comprehensive care at its Life Center at 1335 N. Dutton Ave. in Santa Rosa.

Volunteers for other nonprofits came to purchase large orders for supplies for their organizations, as well as teachers stocking up for their classes.
The Living Room ultimately hopes to open a permanent thrift store to generate ongoing revenue, Sherer said.
“If anyone in Sonoma County has commercial space they’d be interested in donating or leasing at a community-friendly rate, we’d love to connect with them,” she said.
